1. Manage your time
Start by arranging your tasks according to their urgency and importance, and set aside the appropriate time to complete them within the needed time frame. You’re less likely to feel you’re overworking if you plan your time well and take control over your schedule.
2. Do not multitask
Complete one task before proceeding to the next. Multitasking strains your brain and can cause a dreadful burnout in the long. If you are handling bigger projects, cut them in small segments that can be completed effortlessly over a long time instead of attempting to handle the big chunk of work together with other smaller tasks.
3. Delegate smaller tasks to others
Do not saddle yourself with tasks that someone else can complete for you. For instance, the operator can key-in the entries; the tele-caller can contact clients on your behalf; the office messenger can deliver those files to the next department, etc. Outsource the nitty-gritty to other individuals.
4. Ask for assistance
If you feel the burnout is kicking in, don’t hesitate to meet your boss and discuss the matter. Say that you’re being asked to bite too much than you can chew. Your boss could reduce your responsibilities and duties or give you any other sort of assistance.
5. Take short breaks between tasks
Walk around the workplace and take short coffee breaks between tasks. The world will not end if you take a break of two days from work.
6. Don’t take any office work to your home
It can be tempting to carry some tasks home when you’re running behind schedule. You can do that once in a long time, don’t make it a habit. Home should be a place of resting and reflecting on other things not related to work.
