Who & What Is "Blind Kenny"?!

"Blind Kenny" is a power sports photography business owned and operated by Ken and Donna Behm of Marion, NC.
We’ve been asked many times, “How did you get the name 'Blind Kenny'?” Years ago there was a vintage Muddy Waters 33 rpm record for sale at an online auction site. We needed a screen ID for our account. Since we met because of blues music and because we both love the blues, Donna suggested "Blind Kenny" in tribute to all the old singers and players like "Blind Lemon" Jefferson and "Blind Blake". We were outbid by 1¢! But the name stuck and has held us in good stead for over 10 years. When it came time to start our business, it was the logical choice.

Photography has been a passion of ours for years. After a series of “happy happenstances” in 2010, we decided to build a business on things we both love - photography, people, motorcycles and sports cars. So Blind Kenny Powersports Photography was born.

The business started operations in August 2010 with a tremendous response from you! We’re The Devil’s Whip official photographers. We photograph motorcycle riders, sports car drivers, and bicyclists out enjoying their ride on NC 80. Our photography captures a unique moment in time from a perspective most riders and drivers never get to see - themselves and their machines performing as one and having fun. We don’t know who enjoys it more, the riders and drivers OR us!

Both of us are WNC natives. Kenny was born in Asheville, grew up in Hawaii, and returned to Asheville when his father retired from the Navy. Both of Donna’s parents are from Mitchell County; her mom’s a Little Switzerland native and her dad’s a Bakersville native. She was born and reared in Marion (really Pleasant Gardens). Both our families date their WNC roots back to the mid 1700’s.

You’ll find both of us on The Devil's Whip/NC 80 with our yellow and black signs a half mile south of Buck Creek Gap and the BRP. We’re out rain or shine (unless it’s an all day, torrential downpour) from morning until dark, ALL year long, as long as we think YOU’RE out. If they’re forecasting just showers, we’ll be under our black and white checkered canopy still taking pictures!

We love what we do and do what we love - You can’t ask for more than that!
